Chad E. Bad Bear, Sr., the son of Pagette and Bernadine Bad Bear, passed away peacefully at the Crow Northern Cheyenne Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Chad's Indian name was Uuke Iiwaahilish, "Works Good with Clay," given to him by the late Sonny Jo Reed.
Chad was born to Elvira Nellie Bad Bear and the late Pat Stands Jr. Pagette and Bernadine Bad Bear adopted Chad when he was an infant.
He was a Whistling Water and a Child of the Big Lodge; He was a member of the Catholic Church and was also a member of the Native American Church. Chad grew up in a traditional home with his sibling, Sonny, April and Sherylynn and him being the youngest.
His younger years Chad grew up in Pryor before moving to Crow to the family home, He attended Hardin High School and Graduated 1997 from Plenty Coops High school, while in school he enjoyed art and loved to draw especially when it came to Star Wars, he attended college and then start his employment at Crow IHS and during this time Chad met Carlene Jefferson and from this union they had 4 children Ashtyn, Chad Jr, Genesis, & Cheinah. They were later divorced. Then he married Mariam House and from that union they had Ezekiel James, they were later divorced. Chad worked for AML before attending UTTC in Bismarck, ND and then finished his education at LBHC and Graduating with AA and his CDL and from there he worked for Transystems hauling sugar beets and he also worked for Mark Moe hauling cattle across the USA, on these trips he took Ashtyn and Balou to help and see the country. A few times he took Gen so she could see the country. Chad enjoyed Halloween and always had a Haunted Forest every year and one year it was #2 in the state. Everyone always looked forward to attending every year. Chad hosted Tea Parties and loved tying drum with his group The Peyote Boys from Hell. Chad loved all his children and supported them in everything.
Chad is preceded in death by his parents Pagette and Bernadine, natural father Pat Stands Jr. his sibling Sonny, April, and Cherl. Robert Stands Aunts, Patricia Stands, Great Grandparents, John (Elizabeth) Smart Enemy, and Elkin (Goldie)Stands Over Bull, Patrick Stands Sr, Fred Smart Enemy Jr, Clara Big Lake, Lillian Bull Shows adopted son, Jeff McDonald, Grandparents Ted Rides Horse George Bad Bear, Ina and Thomas Bad Bear, Charlotte Bad Bear and Adam Singer, aunt Marjorie Bad Bear Wilkinson, uncles Herman, Dickie Badbear; aunts Clara Smells, Peggy Rides Horse, Sister Jolene Smells. Best Friends Josiah YellowTail , Jeromy Holds the Enemy, Thomas Russel, James Cummis Sr, Carla Big Head.
Survivors include: His children Ashtyn (Marlyn), Chad Jr., Genesis, Cheinah, and Ezekiel Bad Bear, his granddaughters Athena Bad Bear and Kendra First Rider, adopted children Bronson Fog in the Morning, Caleb Doyle, D'Alan Rodgers, Leo & James Cummins. His sisters include Carrie Doll, Holly Stands, Devona Lambert , Jade Rides Horse, Julie Wilkinson, Georgette (Newton Jr.), Old Crow Sheila ( Leroy) NotAfraid , Audie Wilkinson, Powwow Jefferson, and Patalene (Bruce) Stands. Brothers: David Bad Bear 3rd , Patrick III, Isaiah and Solomon Stands, Karl Little Owl, Eric Birdin Ground, Cheyenne Bixby, Micheal Ware Jr., Nathan George, Lane Rides Horse, Tim and Billy Smells Mothers: Elvira Nellie Bad Bear and Mary Louise LaForge. And best friend: Percelia Buffalo BullTail. Chad also had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Extended family include Bad Bear, Stands Over Bull, Smells, Rides Horse, Jefferson, Spotted Bears, Old Horn, Cummins, Smart Enemy, Old Coyote, Hawk, Big Hair, Rock Above, Spotted Wolf from North Dakota and Johnson Family from Idaho.
We would like to Thank Dr. Clark and the nurses at IHS and also his children's mother Carlene Jefferson for staying by his side until his passing.
Chad made many friends during his adventures and travels and made many great memories with everyone. He will be greatly missed by all.
