Chad Barnette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 6, 2026.
Chad E. Barnette, 45, of Pecks Mill, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026, leaving from St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

He was born June 24, 1980, in Logan, WV, the son of James Edward Barnette and the late Judy McGraw Adkins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Minnie McGraw; three uncles, Gary McGraw, Scott McGaw, and Bobby Barnette; one aunt, Barb Collins; and one special cousin, Mary Collins.

Chad brought light and laughter into the lives of those who knew him. He made his living as a coal miner for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Chad had a passion for hunting that was unmatched, especially rabbit and coon hunting. He also loved fishing. While at home, he could often be found watching his favorite TV shows including the famous Western "Gunsmoke" and the all-time family favorite "The Andy Griffith Show" or mowing his yard. Chad was known for his unwavering faith, and he was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. Above all, Chad was a devoted family man and a cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

In addition to his father, those left to cherish his memory are his children, Hunter Barnette and Kaylee Barnette; one sister, Kelly (Bub) Ellis; one stepsister, Shannon (Dylan) Saunders; his stepfather, Tom Adkins; three nephews, Braxton Ellis, Brantley Ellis, and Matthew (Diana) Jones; two nieces, Nina Ellis and Mackenzie (Jacob) Garza; his former wife and mother of his children, Hollie Barnette; special aunts and uncles, Angie (Tim) Heirs, Carol (Marshall) Harrison, Becky Johnson, Debbie Barnette, Frankie McGraw, Donnie (Leola) Barnette, Roger Barnette, Jerry (Debbie) Barnette, and Ronnie (Diana) Barnette. Additionally, Chad leaves behind several other aunts and uncles along with many cousins and a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Chad's wishes, he will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
