David Toler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 26, 2026.
David "Tobar" Toler, 68, of Hanover, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, leaving from CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.

He was born December 14, 1957, at Iaeger, WV, a son of the late Courtney James Toler and Allie Marie Walker Toler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dennis Toler, Otis Toler, and Burnis Toler; two sisters, Judy Stacy and Susie Lilly; and two brothers-in-law, Garry Walls and Ronnie Lilly.

Tobar lived his life as both a testament to hard work and an example of unwavering faith. For years, he applied his skills and dedication to the construction industry as a skilled electrician. He was the owner and operator of Tobar's, where for two years, he not only serviced the community but also built long-lasting relationships. Beyond his professional commitments, Tobar found joy in the great outdoors. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he was intimately familiar with the best spots at R.D. Bailey Lake, a place where he was affectionately known as the mayor. He never met a stranger. He loved camping with his family and friends. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always willing to help anyone in need. Tobar dedicated himself to serving the Lord, and he loved attending different churches throughout the community. Above all, Tobar was a family man and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Abby Toler; his children, Tara Toler of Hanover, WV, Tyler (Samantha) Toler of Logan, WV, and Chase Riffe of Hanover, WV; his grandchildren, Noah Toler, Mason Toler, Liam Toler, Allie Toler, and Zayden Toler; two sisters, Illene Walls and Patsy (Kenneth) Morgan both of Justice, WV; and two special and dear friends, Pam Lambert and Jack Morgan. Additionally, Tobar leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

To honor Tobar's wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no services.
