Chalmer Ray Burden, 89, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away on February 5th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Chalmer was born May 14th, 1936 to Morgan and Dilly Burden in Butler County, Kentucky. He was the youngest of seven; Troy, Charlie, Erdis, Clifton, Lois, and Agnes. He attended Rockport high school where he broke multiple baseball school records, some of which he still holds today. He then went on to attend Oakland City University where he received his pastoral license. He spent over 60 years in the ministry, pastoring churches in Kentucky, Arizona, and Indiana.
When he wasn’t ministering, he loved to work in his garden, growing tomatoes, watching Indiana Hoosier basketball, fishing, and riding his lawnmower. He would also go on to teach all of his grandchildren how to drive, going to garage sales, antiquing, and loved being surrounded by his family.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Gabriel Burden and Delie (Daughtery) Burden, his siblings, and also his twin sons Lonnie and Donnie.
He is survived by his wife Loveda Flener Burden of 68 years; daughters; Ladora Foster (Rick), Sara Glover (Dwayne), Karen Burden; son; Tim Burden (Paige). Grandchildren; Andrew, Adam, Jamie, Margot, Morgan, Emilie, and Shelby, and; great grandchildren Angelina, Jackson, A.J., and Olive.
Visitation for Chalmer Burden will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN at 10:00 a.m. EST until 1:00 p.m. EST; the service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with the burial at Hackleman Cemetery in Rockport, IN. Pastors Scott Wesselman and Frank Coleman will be officiating. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
