Augusta, GA – Chaplain Kenneth Roy Gross, Sr., 84, met his Savior Jesus Christ face to face on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years the former Patricia Ann Orcutt; children: Charlene Patricia Boudet, Augusta, GA and Kenneth R. Gross, Jr., Fredericksburg, VA; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded to Glory by his parents: Ernie and Virginia Gross; brother: Ronald Gross and grandson: Ronald Jackson Gross.
A graduate of Augusta University, he also attended Washington University, St. Louis, MO and Clemson University. He was employed by Burroughs/Unisys Corp in South Carolina, North Carolina and Augusta, Georgia where he retired. His call to the Law Enforcement Chaplaincy came in 1982. Agencies served over the years include Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Marshall’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Homeland Security and the FBI. It can be said he truly cared for those who “protect & serve” seeking to share God’s love whenever and wherever he could 24/7. Ken fellowshipped at Believers Gospel Chapel.
The family would like to thank those doctors who cared for him since cancer was diagnosed, including Dr. Marc Pitts, Dr. David Squires and Dr. Jon Reimer. In addition, we thank the caregivers, Ella Edwards and Rebecca Evans.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Andy Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be members of law enforcement.
