Charlene "Charlie" Kay Battles was born on October 6th, 2022. She was perfect. She weighed 5lbs 10 ounces and was 17 inches long. Sadly, she dealt with several health issues. On Sunday, October 16th, our sweet Charlie Kay left her Momma and Daddy's arms and went into the arms of Jesus. Services will be Friday, October 21, 2022, at 3pm at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel, with a visitation for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Big Hurricane Cemetery in Brookwood.
Charlene was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Dennis Battles and Robert Miller, her grandmother Sharon Kay Miller, and her great-grandfather Harmon "Little Bud" Kelley. It comforts us to know she will be spoiled in heaven.
Charlie Kay is survived by her dad, Bradley Wayne Battles, mom, Shara Rae Miller, her siblings that she loved with all her heart, Alexis (Trey) Wessel, Madison (Alex Gober) Battles, Nathan (Haley Wooddell) Fife, Morgan Battles, and Elaina Fife, grandmother, Sandy Battles, great-grandmother Cathaleen "Kitty" Kelley, great-Aunt Charlotte "Boo" Kelley, great-Uncle Rodney Kelley, her nephew, Kohen Gober, and niece, Mabry Gober. She will also be missed by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Although we only had 10 days with our "warrior princess", her legacy is imprinted on our hearts forever. She fought for us to know her and know her we did. She taught us to love others despite differences and just to bring people together.
Charlene's family resides close to Brookwood and that is where she will be buried - but her memory will be forever in the hearts of the ones that knew her. Charlie Kay endured so much in such a short period of time, yet she was so strong and feisty. She had a head full of dark brown hair with a little button nose (a perfect combination of her mom and dad). She was fearfully and wonderfully made by the hand of God, and it comforts us to know she will endure no more pain or sorrow, but an abundance of unconditional love.
Pallbearer will be Rob Bolmon (Natalie), with the staff at Children's Hospital recognized as Honorary Pallbearers.
"Be fearless our little Angel". "Not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it." Matthew 10:29. Love, Daddy
Forever honored God chose us to be your parents. Standing on the promise we will see you again. Love, Momma
