Charles “Chuck” Acker, age 84, passed away on July 13, 2025 at home after a five-year struggle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies. He was Born on April 4, 1941, in Highland Park, MI, the son of Robert and Alicia (Morris) Acker. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Carol (Hopp); his sons Michael and Matthew; grandchildren Alex, Elizabeth (Wentz) Choute, Andrew, and Zoe; great-grandchild Wentz Mateo Choute.

Chuck spent his early years in Ferndale, MI, before his family moved to Davis, MI where they owned Acker’s Market. He also lived in Washington Township, MI and Burtchville, MI before moving to Washington, MI in 2015.

Chuck regularly worked out, enjoyed jogging, riding his bike, playing handball, softball, and basketball. He hit a hole-in-one golfing in 1986. He loved spending time in the woods hiking and walking his dog. He spent many years coaching little league baseball.

Chuck graduated from Romeo Community High School, Class of 1959, then attended Michigan State University – Oakland (now Oakland University) for two years before transferring to, and graduating from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Economics. He earned a M.B.A. from Indiana Northern University and completed the Michigan State University Graduate School of Business Administration and Lifelong Education program for Technical Management Skills. Chuck was also very proud of his Dale Carnegie Course completion.

Chuck retired from Chrysler in 2001 as an Executive Engineer. He spent over 20 years working for the Jeep brand where he had very fond memories of his co-workers and his travels to China, Argentina, Belgium, numerous Camp Jeeps, and Jeep Easter Safaris. He received many recognitions for his contributions, including his efforts to promote Quality, Productivity, and Reduce Complexity. Earning several PQI certificates for the Pursuit of Excellence.

After retirement, Chuck volunteered at the Chrysler Automotive Museum, and spent many years helping the elderly and underprivileged by providing Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling through the AARP.

If you missed seeing and talking to Chuck for the past five years, it was because he suffered from Dementia with Lewy Bodies. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for you to please make a charitable donation to the LBDA (Lewy Body Dementia Association) https://www.lbda.org/donate/ .

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home in Romeo, MI.
