Charles “Chip” Mitchell Adams, age 74 of Taneytown passed on Saturday July 19, 2025, with his loving family by his side from Parkinson’s disease and related dementia. Born August 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Calvern R. and Thelma M. (Mitchell) Adams Sr. He was the loving husband of Marcia Adams for 52 years.
Chip was in the class of 1968, the last class to graduate from Taneytown High School before it was closed. After high school he joined the Army serving two tours in Vietnam as a truck mechanic. He was honorably discharged after 4 years of service to his country. Soon after he became a career fire fighter for the Prince George’s County fire department. Retiring in 1987. Later he worked as a Fire Marshall for Carroll & Howard counties. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. He knew his MG Midget inside and out due to the work he has done on it over the years. He enjoyed playing poker, checkers and he was an avid Chess player.
Besides his wife he is survived by daughter, Kelly Bellgrau and husband Michael of Westminster, MD; sister, Bonnie Seifert of Baltimore, brother; Calvern Adams, Jr, and wife Sonjia of Gaithersburg; best good dog, Cricket; grand dogs, Bodhi and Charlie ; cats, Bert and Lola; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Thelma May Shyroyer.
The family will receive friends at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 on Sunday August 3rd from 12-2pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm.
