Dr. Charles Artley, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Rev. Jeff Appling will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Memorial park Riverside Dr. from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Charles Artley was born in 1942. He went to Northwoods Elementary School and then attended Cross Keys High School. Charles Artley then achieved his undergraduate degree and Master's Degree at the University of Georgia in Experimental Psychology. He went on to get his PHD at UGA in Education.
During this time, Charles worked at the CDC and then at Emory at the Primate Center. He went on to be an adjunct professor at Brenau University. For the next 28 years, Charles Artley worked at Hall County Schools as the head district school psychologist.
Charles Artley leaves behind his wife, Chiqui Artley, of 32 years, a daughter, Valerie Wingerd, and his two grandsons through her- Isaac and Charlie. Charles Artley leaves his two sisters Ruth Watkins and Becky McClure, 3 nieces, and 3 nephews.
Charles Artley loved books, animals, nature, cracking jokes, and loved to watch old movies with his wife Chicqui.
In addition to his parents, Harold and Minnie Lee Appling Artley, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Artley.
