AUSTIN, Charles L. "Uncle Bootsie," 66, of Varina, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Bendle and husband, Craig; two grandchildren, Natalie and Christopher; a devoted brother, John Austin and wife, Kaaron; former wife, Apolonia "Loni" Austin; brother, Clyde Jr.; sisters, Grace and Mary. Charles was a member and past Commander of Varina American Legion Post #233, also past 11th District Commander. He was a retired employee of the International Mission Board (IMB) and an employee of Capital GMC. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Varina American Legion Building, 8088 Recreation Road, Henrico, Va. 23231. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation, P.O. Box 1398, Brookneal, Virginia 24528.
