Charles Stanton "Charlie" Ayers, 77 of Port Tobacco Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, Surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born February 27,1948, in Notomine, West Virginia, Charlie was one of nine children of the late Wilbur Vivian Ayers and Opal Lucille Ayers. Charlie retired after many years as a truck driver with Bob Hall Inc, and later worked as the manager of Colonial Liquors in La Plata Maryland. Known For his humor and his heart, he was especially loved for dressing up as Barney Fife every Halloween- a tradition that brought joy and laughter to everyone that knew him. He loved fishing, camping, cheering on his favorite Washington Redskins football team, and enjoyed a cold 10-ounce Budweiser. He also loved watching western movies. More than anything, he cherished time with his family. Whether laughing with him or laughing at him, Charlie's greatest wish was to see those around him smile…. Or aggravated. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Maryann Ayers; his children, Chuck Ayers (wife Michelle), Bill Ayers (wife Debbie), Lori Crouse (husband Freddie), and Jenny Goeddel; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025 at Raymond Funeral Service P.A 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata Maryland 20646. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the service at 12:00pm. Memorial contributions can be made to; Charles County Animal Shelter 6707 Animal Shelter Rd. Hughesville, MD 20637 or University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center ICU Dept. 5 Garrett Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646-5930 in Charlie's memory. Charlie's humor, kindness, and love for family will never be forgotten
