Dr. Charles “Chuck” Brewer Jr., of Greer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025.
Chuck grew up in East Point, Georgia, where he graduated from Headland High School in 1968. During those years, he excelled in both basketball and baseball. He was also a leader in the Student Government Association. He graduated from Mercer University in 1972.
Chuck lived a life characterized by compassion, dedication, and friendship. After moving to Greenville, he was a psychiatrist in private practice for more than 30 years. He cared deeply for his patients, providing not just treatment but also genuine understanding and hope. He will be remembered in the community as a pioneer in treating ADHD and a doctor who treated patients with compassion, often praying with patients who requested it. His quiet strength and steady wisdom shaped many lives, and his legacy of service lives on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. A man of kindness, strength, and faith, he demonstrated the value of hard work and doing what is right.
Outside of his work, Chuck found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved a good round of golf, cheered passionately for Clemson and Georgia Tech football, and took pride in keeping his yard a place of beauty and care. Friends and family alike will remember his wit, his loyalty, and the way he made those around him feel valued.
He is survived by his son Matthew Brewer and daughter-in-law Crystal Brewer; his beloved granddaughter Isabella Brewer; his son Benjamin Brewer; his brother Tommy Brewer; his sister Betty Wilson and brother-in-law Don Wilson, along with numerous nieces and a nephew. Additionally, his special friend Jeannie Strickland and dear family friend Michael Bettistea.
Visitation will be held at Earle Street Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday, August 30th at 2 pm with a memorial service following at 3:30 pm. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chuck’s memory to Hope Rises International, formerly American Leprosy Missions, an organization Chuck believed in strongly. https://www.hoperises.org/
