Sonja L Sligh, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Westminster, SC, at the age of 54. Born on September 25, 1971, in Bowling Green, KY, Sonja's life was a tapestry of thoughtful deeds and cherished moments, woven with the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.
Sonja's early years in Kentucky were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. She was the beloved sister to Lee, Ricky, Roger, and Darlene, and though her parents, Dale and Ruby Lindsey, preceded her in death, their values and love lived on through her. Sonja is survived by her sons, Kyle Castenda (married to Teresia Castenda) and Tyler Sligh, her daughter, Samantha Sligh, and her grandson, Elijah Sligh.
A woman of many passions, Sonja found solace in the pages of a good book and the escapism of movies. Her love for food was not just about savoring flavors but also about the fellowship and laughter shared around the table. Scrapbooking was a way for her to preserve memories, each page a testament to the love she had for her family and friends. Hiking was another joy, allowing her to explore the beauty of nature, often in the company of those she held dear. And, of course, her fondness for unicorns was well-known, a symbol of the magic and wonder she saw in the world.
Those who knew Sonja will remember her as the epitome of loving kindness. Her selfless nature meant she was always there for others, offering a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, or a helping hand. Her thoughtfulness was evident in the way she remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and the little things that mattered to each person in her life.
As we bid farewell to Sonja L Sligh, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her journey on this earth may have ended, but the memories she created, the love she shared, and the impact she had on those around her will endure forever. Sonja's story is not one of sorrow but a beautiful narrative of a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Her spirit will remain a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her.
