Charles Avner Britt, Sr., born on November 7, 1947, in Crisp County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at Piedmont Macon Medical Hospital in Macon, Georgia. A dedicated and beloved figure within his community, he made remarkable contributions throughout his life, both professionally and personally.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Danny Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the funeral home before the service.
Michael Chadwick, Michael McDuffie, Justin Ratliff, Robert Owings, Justin Ledford, and Thomas Stubbs will serve as pallbearers.
Charles proudly graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1967. He went on to build an exemplary career as the plant manager for Wayne Davis Concrete, where he was known for his unwavering commitment to quality and leadership. His professional achievements were a testament to his work ethic and dedication. His hobbies included wood working, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a sweet and caring person, never meeting a stranger.
In addition to his career, Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 190 in Rochelle, Georgia. His association with this organization reflects the values of brotherhood and community service that he held dear. He was also a member of Double Run Baptist Church.
Charles was a devoted family man and he is survived by his children, John Russell Britt of Lakeland, Georgia, Christopher Lee Britt and his wife, Lisa of Jacksonville, Florida. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Kayleigh Britt, Carson Britt, and Kinsley Britt, who brought him immense joy and pride and became the love of his life after his wife died. He is also survived by his brother, Ray E. Britt and his wife Monica of Eastman, Georgia. Together, they shared countless memories that will forever be treasured.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Britt and Mary L. Braswell Britt; his beloved wife, Kay Cagle Britt, who passed away on September 12, 2017, their son, Charles A. Britt, Jr., his sister, Ann Egeland and his brother, James O. Britt.
Charles Avner Britt will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the love he shared with his family and the positive impact he left on his community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
