Beloved father, devoted “papaw”, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Charles Lee Ashley “Bub”, 72, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Bub was born on December 12, 1952 in Yadkinville, NC. He was the son of Dale and Sallie Ashley and was preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved wife, Donna Pardue Ashley. Bub was a life-long resident of Yadkinville, NC. He attended Forbush High School and retired from Wake Forest University, where he was recognized as employee of the year, 12 years running. Bub had a keen ability to repair/fix just about anything and would help anyone that needed a hand anytime. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and could often be found on a lake or in the woods doing what he loved. He enjoyed teaching his grandsons how to hunt and fish, helping them repair cars, or weekly outings searching for chickens and eating out with his granddaughter. Bub was happiest spending time with his 4 grandchildren and his great grandson. He was selfless in what he would do for them: Aaron Ashley, Aaron Jr., Destiny Hayes, Caroline and Brady Vincent. He will be greatly missed by each of them. Bub leaves behind his daughters, Christy Ashley and Michelle Vincent (Chris); 4 grandchildren, Aaron Ashley (Seneida), Destiny Hayes, Caroline and Brady Vincent; a great-grandson, Aaron Jr., and a special nephew, Russ Ashley. Bub was the youngest of 4 children and will be missed by his sisters, Jan Mitchell (Don) and Sue Wagoner. His brother, Dennis Ashley, preceded him in death.
