Charles "Bubba" Hugh Fowler, a beloved member of the Chappells community and a cherished friend to many, passed away on August 23, 2023, in Laurens County, SC. Born on August 18, 1940, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late George W. Fowler and Lucy Steadman Fowler.
Bubba graduated from Fairforest High School in 1958 and attended Catawba College, where he gained valuable knowledge that would serve him well throughout his life and career. He had an illustrious career in sales within the steel industry. Known for his dedication and professionalism, he made a lasting impact throughout his years in the field and made many friends.
Though Bubba's professional achievements were commendable, it is his commitment to family and the joy he brought to those around him that will be remembered most fondly. He had a vibrant personality and was widely known as a fun-loving guy. Bubba always prioritized spending time with loved ones and cherished his moments with friends and cousins. His sisters and their families held a special place in his heart.
Beneath his affectionate nickname "Bubba," Charles Hugh Fowler was a family man through and through. He leaves behind loving memories for all who knew him. His three Clemson fan sisters may have playfully teased him for being an avid Gamecocks fan, but Bubba's loyalty knew no bounds when it came to supporting South Carolina football. Whether it was cheering on his favorite team or living on the lake and enjoying all aspects of lake life, Bubba embraced every opportunity for joy.  March Madness held a special place in Bubba's heart as he was an enthusiastic ACC Basketball fan. Nascar also captivated him; he found excitement in following the high-speed races and thrilling finishes. These hobbies and interests reflected his zest for life.  In addition to leaving behind countless cherished memories within the community, Bubba proudly served in the Navy from 1959 to 1964. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his service will be forever remembered and honored.
Bubba is survived by his three sisters, Georgia "Chi Chi" Eleazer (Jim) of Inman, Pam Dove (Steve) of Chappells, and Joy Penland (Roger) of Inman and his son, Sandy Fowler.  Bubba's infectious spirit and warm presence will be deeply missed by his many cousins and all who had the honor of knowing him.
Bubba's passing leaves a void in our hearts that cannot be filled. However, we find solace in the knowledge that his memory will live on through the love he shared, the joy he spread, and the lasting impact he made on this world.
