Cecil Curtis Hart, Sr., 100, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, following a brief illness. Cecil was born on January 31, 1925, in Pacolet, SC, and was a son of the late Mamie Fowler and William Thomas Harte. He was married to the late Betty Crosby Hart.
Cecil was a dealer of fine furniture in the Spartanburg area for over 65 years. He was the owner and operator of Stuckey Brothers & Hart Furniture and later Hart Furniture Gallery. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church-Spartanburg and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island.
Cecil was a US Army veteran of World War II serving in the Northern France campaign on D-Day. For his brave and honorable service, he was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater with one Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal. This past September, Cecil was awarded the Legion of Honor Medal by the French government for his brave service during the liberation of France during World War II.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Marian Hart of Hilton Head Island, SC; and a grandson, Jason Lee Hart. Along with his beloved wife, Cecil was predeceased by a grandson, William “Will” Thomas Hart.
A graveside service will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton.
