Charles "Bud" Ernest "Bud" Carlson

Beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, Charles Ernest Carlson, 81, passed peacefully early in the morning on Saturday, August 9, 2025 while holding the hand of his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Kathleen Carlson. He joined his parents Jeanne Elizabeth and Paul Alexander Carlson, brother Paul Glen Carlson, sister Darlene Alexis Cordeaux, son Charles Paul Carlson, and brother in laws John (Jack) Sieber and Thomas Wysocki in heaven.

Bud, as he was affectionately known, was born and raised in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Family was everything to him and he loved family picnics, holiday gatherings, and teaching "the kids" - his own and any other kids who happened to be around - how to do things from auto mechanics, building, planting, sports and so much more. He enjoyed playing and watching any sport, but basketball and football were favorites. He coached little league and often picked up half the team on the way to the field. He was an avid fan of Penn State, Pitt, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. After 30 years of building houses and working commercial construction jobs, he owned a delivery business. He loved collecting stamps, gardening, and farming. Over the years, he reforested, raised rabbits, chickens, cows, ducks, and fish, farmed strawberries and cucumbers, and always had a huge family garden that seemed to get bigger every year.

He is survived by his wife Jane Kathleen Carlson, sister Carole Ann Sieber, son and daughter in law, Daniel and Patricia Carlson, and his daughter and son in law Kathleen and William Fintak. His joy were his grandchildren Elizabeth and Andrew Carlson, and Nicholas, Alexander, and Kaitlyn Fintak. He is also survived by his grandson Joey Carlson, nieces and nephews Jennifer Tietbohl and her husband Jeff, Zack Sieber and wife Rebecca, Chuck Coleman and his wife Karen, David Coleman, Kristen Carlson, Amy Boreland and her husband Beau, as well as grand nieces and nephews Mary Ann and Elizabeth Tietbohl, Chloe and Rowan Sieber, Kelly Carlson and Paulina Boreland, his sister in law and brother in law Barbara and Robert Faux and sister in law Nancy Wysocki.

Visitation will be held at Torbert Funeral Chapels, 1145 E Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE 19901 on August 20, 2025, from 12-1pm, followed by Memorial Service at 1pm.
