Charles R. Butz, 94, of Millville passed away on Sunday June 1, 2024, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville. He was born July 12, 1930, in Berwick, a son of the late Mike and Mary (Burnett) Butz.
He graduated from Millville High School and joined the United States Army being honorably discharged in July 3, 1950 before being drafted during the Korean War and was honorably discharged August 16, 1951. Charles worked as a general foreman for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. He was a member of Arthur Bardo Post 564, Benton VFW Post 8317, and Orangeville Masonic Lodge 460, and Cauldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and belonged to the Koon Ridge Rod and Gun Club
Charles is survived by his wife the former Julia McBride, whom he married January 18, 1952, two sons Michael Butz wife Gloria of Bloomsburg, Louie Butz wife Ruth of Millville, four grandchildren: Michelle Houser, Shawn Cole, Jennifer Cranmer, Rachel Vastine, seven great-grandchildren: Brayden and Chase Cicik, Gavin and Grant Cole, Tucker and Emalyn Cranmer, and Harlen Vastine.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents as well as four siblings: Lou Artley, Anna Eder, Betty Barrett, and Martha Young. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Services will be Thursday June 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville with Mike Woolcock officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Millville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
