Charles A. Carpenter, 93, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. He was born on October 29, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Mabern and Ruth Carpenter. Charles was a United States Army veteran. He was a math teacher for Ben Davis High School and retired as the assistant principal after 38 years. Charles enjoyed traveling the world, camping, gardening, teaching Bible classes, collecting stamps and coins in his free time. He loved spending time with his family. Charles belonged to the Greenwood Church Of Christ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gerry Carpenter; son, Andy Carpenter; sister, Janet Kluesener. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his son, Bruce (Shawn) Carpenter; brother, Richard Carpenter; sisters, Linda Amado, Nina Hughett and Carol Maners; daughter in law, Patricia Goodman; grandchildren, Tara (Kirkland) Neal, Amanda (Kendrick) Davis, Caleb (Erin) Carpenter, Cayla (Ryan) Stroud and Lauren (Darrick) Wiatt; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren.
