Charles L. Carr

Age 94, of Wilmington, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2025.

Born February 10, 1931, in Custer Park, Illinois, Charles Leonard Carr was the son of Harry Benjamin and Arzola May (Calhoun) Carr. He was raised and educated in Douglas County, Illinois, and after graduating from high school, proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On July 24, 1954, Charles married the love of his life, Angie McCaslin, in Pana, Illinois. Together they built a home filled with love and faith, raising their family with strong values, devotion, and care.

Charles began his working life in farming before gaining employment with the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. He later joined Caterpillar Tractor Company, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement in 1991. A proud American and veteran, he was a longtime member of the American Legion.

Remembered as a hard-working man who truly enjoyed life, Charles was also known for his quiet strength, steadfast faith, and deep love for family. He stood faithfully beside his wife in her ministry, offering his time, energy, and encouragement as she served her congregations over the years.

Above all, Charles was a devoted husband and father who found his greatest joy in his family. He cherished every moment spent together and took immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow, carrying forward the values and legacy he held dear.

Survivors include his wife Angie; two children: Donald (Yolanda) Carr of Mesa, Arizona and Marcia Manegold of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Jenni (Peter) D’Souza, Donald Jr. (Justine) Carr and Nicole (Mark) Palma; six great grandchildren: Katherine Carr, Matthew Palma, Sophia Palma, Remi Carr, Kaylee D'Souza and Quinn D’Souza; one great-great grandson, Jorah Russell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Edward (Betty) Carr and Roy (Mary Ruth) CARR; his son-in-law, Marvin Manegold; grandson, Richard Carr, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ora and Elsie McCaslin.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. His son, Don Carr, Sr. will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Charles memory to his family for their distribution.
