Charles Carroll Obituary

Charles W. Carroll, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024. He was born on October 28, 1933 to the late Bernard and Cecelia Carroll; cherished husband of the late Gloria Carroll; devoted father of Tony Carroll and his wife Heidi and Jerry Carroll and his wife Tamara; loving grandfather of Caitlin Rose Carroll, Colin A. Carroll, Nichole Foote and Michael Carroll: great grandfather of 4; dear brother of the late Cecelia Rosalie Bibo; also survived by other loving relatives and many friends and former players he coached.

"Charlie" grew up in Irvington, and attended St. Joseph's Monastery and Mt. St. Joseph's College HS. After graduation he proudly served in the US Army, stationed in Germany after WWII as a radar/AA artillery specialist. After his discharge, he attended and earned his degree from the University of Maryland at night while working for the MD State Highway Administration. He worked his way up from a surveyor to highway inspector and finally Chief Utilities Engineer for AA/Charles counties until his retirement after 40 years of service. His passion was coaching youth basketball at St. Clement's Lansdowne (intramural and CYO travel teams) and Leadership Through Athletics/SureShots program.

A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne, 2719 Hammonds Ferry Road, Lansdowne MD 21227 on Friday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10am at St. Clement Church followed by burial at Loudon Park Cemetery.
