Charles Linsen Chaney, Jr., 67, of Texas City, TX passed away on July 26, 2024.
He was born on July 25, 1957, to Charles Linsen Chaney, Sr. and Naoma Sue Chaney in Gatesville, TX. Charles graduated from La Marque High School in 1975 and went on to marry his beloved wife, Sharon, on December 7, 1979. He was a long-time resident of Texas City, but loved taking trips to the ranch in Utopia, TX.
In the early years, Charles enjoyed coaching little league and eventually went on to coach his daughter, Taylor's softball teams throughout the years. He was also a dedicated member of the Texas City Jaycees and enjoyed being a part of Tackle Time. Charles worked in the refineries until his retirement from BP Chemical in 2019.
Charles was the most dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan in both the good times and the tough times. He enjoyed watching the Cowboys and Astros games, but his all-time favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons Cayden and Carson.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Michael, and sister Carol.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon; daughter, Taylor Osoianu and husband Sergio; brother, Russell and wife Uphie; sister, Ranee and husband Chuck Smith; brother-in-law, Hollis and wife Misty Smith, brother-in-law, Lester and wife Judy Westmoreland, and sister-in-law, Karen Westmoreland. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Shannon House (Danny), Shane Smith, Ashlee Corn (Justin), Cody Smith (Kim), Megan Beatty (Matt), Sarah Thayer, Casey (Aaron) Shumaker, Caleb Smith, Calvin Smith (Carroll), Christopher Chaney, Matthew Chaney, Shawn Westmoreland, Richard Westmoreland (Liz), Ashley Knape (Chad), Mikey Westmoreland, and Kaitlyn Westmoreland. He is also survived by his grandsons, Cayden and Carson Osoianu. His memory will also live on through his numerous great nephews, great nieces, and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sergio Osoianu, Shane Smith, Cody Smith, Caleb Smith, Chris Chaney, Calvin Chaney, Matthew Chaney, and Frankie Sandoval.
Visitation will be at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., followed by a service beginning at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Dennis Johns officiating. A burial will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Waresville Cemetery in Utopia, TX at 1:00 p.m.
The family is encouraging everyone attending either service to wear Dallas Cowboys or Houston Astros attire.
