Sandra Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Dec. 19, 2025.
Sandra "Sissy" McDonald Turner

Sandra "Sissy" McDonald Turner was born on April 20, 1958, in La Marque, Texas, to Dolores Costella McDonald and Aubrey Glenn McDonald. The third of six children, she proudly embraced her role as "Queen," being the first girl in the family.

She graduated from La Marque High School in 1976 and spent her early adult years in Texas City. Sissy pursued studies at San Jacinto College and College of the Mainland while beginning both her family and her career at Southwestern Bell, where she built lifelong friendships, in which she considered family. Within five years, she married and welcomed three children: Anthony Jr., Kristina, and Nakeisha.

After leaving Southwestern Bell following her divorce, Sissy focused on education and her personal passions. She launched her own floral design business, A Ray of Hope Floral Design and Gifts, where her creativity flourished. Crafting brought her joy, and she loved creating beautiful, meaningful pieces, whether through floral arrangements or handmade designs.

Sissy continued her education at the University of Houston, earning a bachelor's degree in social work and working toward her master's degree. This journey led her to Webster, Texas, and a long, dedicated career with the State of Texas, where she fulfilled her passion for helping others.

Sissy was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Aubrey McDonald Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Anthony Turner Jr.; Kristina (Daljuin) Polk; and Nakeisha (Darrell) Silva; her grandchildren: Dalin, Dasia, Daria, Delia, and Devyn Polk, and Alexander and Aaron Silva; her siblings: Tony McDonald, Katherine (Kevin) Mangum, Alicia McDonald, and Kitty McDonald; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.
