Charles Joseph Chapko III, a lifelong resident of St. Johns, Michigan, died in a tragic automobile accident on August 30, 2025, at the age of 24.

Born on January 9, 2001, to Charles "Chuck" Jr. and Carrie Ann (Gillespie) Chapko, Charles was the oldest of two children. From a young age, he was motivated, determined, and unafraid to go after what he wanted.

Charles earned his real estate license and previously worked with Century 21. He also owned and managed three rental properties in St. Johns, where he took pride in maintaining the homes and caring for the tenants who lived there. In addition, he worked as a milk truck driver with DRB Transport, transporting milk for local farmers.

Charles was known for his giving nature and his willingness to help others. He made Christmas brighter for those in need, often mowed lawns for neighbors, and was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed. His selflessness shone especially in the way he supported his mother through her health battles and in the deep love he held for his father, mother, and brother.

He lived life fully, with a big heart and a generous spirit.

Charles is survived by his parents, Chuck and Carrie Ann Chapko; his brother, Christian; and his grandmother, Mary Gillespie. He also leaves behind his aunt, Christine (Dwight) Boak; his uncles, Todd (Ruth) Gillespie and Rich Villareal; cousins, Matthew Boak, Rachel (Austin), Keith (fiancée Cera), and Tyler (Sarah), and Mike Villareal; second cousins, Dakota, Parker, Beau Allen, Rudy Jo, Forrest, Georgia, Gavin, Eli, and Margaux, as well as extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen Gillespie and Charles and Patricia Chapko, his aunt, Lisa Villareal, as well as his beloved Pug-Boston Terrier, Travis.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at McGeehan Funeral Home, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns from 2-4 PM and 6-7:30 PM. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday at 7:30PM, led by Deacon Eric Elstro, and a Trucker Tribute procession will immediately follow outside.
