Charles "Chuck" S. Chatelle, 92, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at his son and daughter in-laws home with his family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Burke, NY on November 26, 1932 , the son of Joseph and Florence (Hurteau) Chatelle.

Chuck grew up in Burke, NY and served in the United States Army in the 11th Airborne Division. He also participated in the Nevada Nuclear Testing Site and trained with the civil engineers as a heavy equipment operator. After being honorably discharged he worked on several large construction projects, including Niagara Falls and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Chuck also worked at Georgia Pacific and retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Plattsburgh Quarry. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge, the VFW Post 125 and the American Legion Post 20. Chuck enjoyed playing golf and would spend winters in Florida with his wife and friends. He was also was known to tinker in the garage where he could be found adapting mowers and scooters while having a beer.

He was predeceased by his lovely wife Veronica "Ronnie" Chatelle, his parents, brothers; Anthony, Elwin, and Wayne, his sisters; Ethel, Mary and Charlotte.

Chuck is survived by his son Joe Chatelle and his wife Leann Rabideau of Plattsburgh and his daughter JoAnn Pillitteri and her husband Joe of PA, his grandchildren; Tyler Chatelle and his fiance Shannon Cooper, Kelsey Mrozik, Sierra Gowette and Michael Pillitteri and his wife Kristen, his great grandchildren; Knox and Milo, several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in Chuck's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
