Charles M. Clearman, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, after a three year battle with Alzheimer's. Charley grew up in Knoxville and was a 1969 graduate of Farragut High School. He attended both Tennessee Tech and the University of Tennessee. He retired in 2021 from the City of Maryville with 35 years of service and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of UT football. He and his wife spent many years tailgating with friends on campus and rarely missed a home game.
He was preceded in death by his father George Clearman, his mother Dorothy Clearman Thompson and his step-son Joshua Craven.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Clearman, daughter Savanah Teffeteller (Jim), son Evan Clearman, and five grandchildren Channing, Piper, Ariella, Baker and Jayden. He is also survived by brothers Harry Clearman (Cathy), Roger Clearman (Angela), David Clearman (Lisa) and sister Cindy Floyd (Keith) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Justin Bennett and his staff at East Tennessee Medical Group for their kindness and care during Charley's illness. They also want to express many thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care with a special thank you to nurse Danielle who was wonderful and took such good care of him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery, family and friends will gather from 12:30 – 12:45 pm just inside the south side of the cemetery closest to Broadway to line up and process to the gravesite at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials in Charles's name may be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee, https://www.alztennessee.org/give/donate-now. Online condolences may be made at www.rosefuneraltn.com
