Charles (Chuck) Lee Clifton Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 1, 1936, in Flomatin, Alabama, to Jewel and Frank Clifton.

At just 16 years old, Chuck joined the U.S. Army, serving in Europe and later at Fort Ord, California. It was there that fate stepped in. He first met Barbara Nichols in October of 1956 at Del Monte Gardens, though she wasn't initially impressed. But when their paths crossed again that December, something had changed. Just a few months later, on March 2, 1957, they were married in a small chapel on base at East Garrison, celebrating afterward with a memorable ride on a military tank.

Chuck and Barbara built a beautiful life together. They loved spending time at the lake with their children and grandchildren, traveling across the country in their motorhome, and taking cruises to destinations like Alaska, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. To his grandchildren, he was known as "Papa," and he will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and his favorite catchphrases like, "I'm fine" and "Get out of town!"

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Barbara, and by their sons: Chuck (Gabriella) of Monterey, Robert (Evette) of Seaside, and Keith (Melissa) of Minnesota. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren-Natalie, Chase, Lacey, Travis, Lexi, Avery, Jenna, and Robert-and 13 great-grandchildren who will carry on his memory. He will be deeply missed by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Penny Burkett, and Tom and Helen Ball, along with many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Frank Clifton; his son, Ben Clifton; and his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and David Burch.

Though no formal service will be held, in honor of Chuck's wishes, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Chuck will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a man of faith, and someone who lived life with humor, resilience, and heart. His legacy will live on in the family he loved so dearly.
