Charles Rueben Cocrane

Charles R. Cochrane, 80 of Estero, FL passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice. Formerly of DeKalb, IL, Charles was an Estero resident since 2005. He resided in St. Petersburg, FL from 1979 – 1994. Charles was born December 26, 1941 in DeKalb, IL, a son of the late Emery E. and Olive M. (Sparks) Cochrane. Mr. Cochrane was a veteran of the United States Army. He earned his associates degree in business administration at Kishwaukee Community College. Charles married his wife, Marilyn J. (Brezina) Cochrane, on August 26, 1967.
He was a longtime coach for the Pinellas County Youth Football Conference, worked at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and more recently enjoyed being an usher at Hertz Arena (formerly Germain) in Estero. Charles was a sports enthusiast and fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He was a member of several groups in The Cascades, including the Mariners Club and the Men's Club. As an avid bocce player, he served as the Treasurer of the Southwest Florida Bocce League, as well as playing in the Cascades local and travel bocce leagues. Most important to Charles was the time he spent with his family; he was loved by all who knew him for his positive attitude and infectious smile. His daily visits will be missed by the employees at Starbucks on Estero Parkway, where he was awarded "Customer of The Month" in March 2020.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Kimberlee (Kevin) Crass of Tallahassee, FL, Kristin (Kirk) Teschke of Estero, FL; cherished grandchildren, Margaux and Simon Teschke, and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2016; and his 10 brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33967. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden.
