Charles R Collier

Charles Richard Collier of Murrell's Inlet SC left this world peacefully at home Saturday Morning July 22, 2023. "Charlie" as he was known to his friends was born on July 8, 1946, in Roanoke VA to Charles and Laureda Collier. Raised in Logan WV, he graduated in the Class of 1964 from Logan High School. Drafted into the United States Army after high school, he served his country in Germany, Honorably Discharged at the Rank of Sargent. After his military service, Charlie returned to Logan to start a family and begin a 40-year career in Telecommunications. This career took him from Logan to Beckley WV and to his final location in Falls Church VA. Charlie proudly served in locals 2002 and 2222 of the Communications Workers of America union in various officer positions over the years. He proudly rode his Harley with the Patriot Guard Riders for a few years in Manassas VA until his retirement. After retiring for the 2nd time in 2009, he and his wife Karen moved to Murrell's Inlet and enjoyed the beach life for 14 years until his passing.
Charlie was proceeded in death by son Jason Houston, his parents C.H. Collier Jr and Alberta Laureda Collier, & Father-in-law Eddie Yates. He is survived by his Wife Karen Collier of Murrells Inlet SC, Son Christopher Collier (Melissa Lunsford) of Charleston WV, Son Richard Andrew Collier of Holden WV, Brother Roger (Barbara) Collier of Teays Valley WV, Brother Tom Collier of McConnell WV, Sister in law Pam Filbert of Manassas VA, Grandchildren Alexis (Cody) Adkins of Chapmanville WV, Autumn Collier ( Desi Wallen) of Lenore WV, Ciara Collier of Logan WV, Abbey and Jace Collier of Lenore WV. Great Grandchildren Brantley and Myla Adkins of Chapmanville WV, Kade Bush of Lenore WV, Special Niece Christina Duncan of Herndon VA and his Faithful Dog Companion Dixie. Also surviving Charlie are Numerous Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
Charlie and Karen have made many friends at the local beach bars in and around Murrell's Inlet. Thank you for accepting Charlie into your lives and making 14 years of retirement enjoyable for him. The family would also like to say "Thanks" to Charlie's buddy, Bill Stepp for all the help and just being there for him.
Per Charlie's request there will be No services. He will be cremated, and a Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. Goldfinch Funeral Home oversees the arrangements.
