Charles H. Confer, 87, of Scotland, PA, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born January 20, 1938, in Howard, PA, he was a son of the late James Confer and the late Ruth Bowmaster Thompson.
Charles served honorably in the US Air Force. He was employed as a stone mason in the Washington, DC area for 45 years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening and model railroading.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary P. Dove Confer, whom he married on May 7, 1960; one daughter, Robin Miller (husband Randy) of Greensburg, PA; and three siblings, Raymond Confer, Vonda Blankenship, and Peggy Confer. Aside from his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie White; five brothers, Elmer, Jim, Richard, Tom and Kenneth Confer; and three sisters, Shirley Confer, Miriam Donahay, and Barbara Evans.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
