Charles A. Cooley, a beloved figure born on September 14, 1929, in Winnie, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. His vibrant spirit and joyous nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Charles was known for his fun-loving personality, which endeared him to family, friends, and the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Bridge City, where he was a devoted member.
Charles' life journey was rich with experiences and accomplishments. He served honorably in the Army for two years and continued his dedication to service by retiring from the National Guard. His love for adventure was evident in his life as a lifetime hunter, and he found great joy in reading, particularly enjoying stories of the Old West. He also relished in dancing and staying active, leading a life full of movement and vibrancy.
He was profoundly proud of his family, which includes his son, Wesley A. Cooley and his wife, Hong; his son, Talbot A. Cooley; his daughter, Charlyn R. Dilliner and her husband, Matt; his son, Travis Cooley and his wife, Karen; and his daughter, Kayla J. McKinley and her husband, John. Charles was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren and a delighted great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren. His siblings, Joyce Hill and Wayne Cooley, also hold dear memories of their time with him.
Charles was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charlie A. Cooley and Elsie Corrine Cooley; his wives, Cornelia J. Cooley, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years, and Clyda Cooley, whom he loved for 22 years; his brother, Gene A. Cooley and his son, Stuart Cooley.
