On Saturday, August 10, 2024, Charles Ray Delahoussaye, Sr., loving father of two children, passed away at the age of 90 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will be held at the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.
The pallbearers will be: Anthony Lanclos, Beau Griffin, Mark Zerangue, Gene Sandoz, Michael King and Danny Meche.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service will be prayed Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. which will be recited by Father Ken Domingue. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Ray lived a life filled with laughter, love and cherished moments. He was a brave, kind and caring man, as well as a deeply devoted father and husband. During his high school years, he played football and baseball. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Ray was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was a devout Catholic and was very proud to be a Fourth Degree Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Ray is survived by his sons, Charles Ray Delahoussaye, II and his wife, Pam; Michael Eugene Delahoussaye and his wife, Michon. He is also survived by his grandson, Luke Michael Delahoussaye and three nephews, Matthew Sandoz, Michael King and Nicholas King.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Ruth Guidry; his sister, Tootie; as well as, his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Louise Sandoz Delahoussaye.
Ray will forever be remembered for his love for family, and cheerful spirit that brightened the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace as his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him deeply.
