Charles "Dale" Dowdle, age 86, of Belmont, passed away on February 10, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Born on November 8, 1937 as one of eleven children, in Swain County, NC, to the late John and Flossie Dowdle, Dale's life was marked by love, dedication, and cherished memories.
A beloved family man and hard worker, Dale was also a man of many passions, he found solace and inspiration in the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley. He could often be found listening attentively to Dr. Stanley's wisdom, finding comfort in his words. In addition to his spiritual connection with Dr. Stanley's sermons, Dale was an avid NY Yankee baseball fan and Carolina Tarheel basketball fan. The thrill of watching a Yankees game or cheering on the Tarheels brought him immense joy.
Music played a significant role in Dale's life as well. He loved to sing and play his guitar, finding peace and expression through melodies that resonated deep within his soul. Whether strumming chords alone or sharing his music with family and friends gathered around him, Dale created beautiful harmonies that will forever linger in our hearts.
Dale's devotion to family was unmatched. His love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Surviving him are his daughter Pamala Dowdle Gwinn (Art), stepson Ronald Hensley, brother Wayne Dowdle (Ruby), grandchildren Jay, Mike, Kevin, Tiffany, Melissa, John, and Scott; 7 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kim Hensley; son-in-law Michael Lee Beckham; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregiver/niece, Cindy Mattox.
Throughout his life journey, Dale experienced both profound loss and enduring love. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Emmie June Dowdle; his second wife Bonnie Laxton Dowdle; daughter Tina Dowdle Beckman; stepson Dino Hensley; grandsons, David and Josh Hensley; and his loyal canine companion, Chance. Though their physical presence is now missed, their spirits remain intertwined in the tapestry of Dale's life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and honor Dale's memory at the Visitation to be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 101 Oak Grove St., Mt.
