Christie Lynn Skidmore “Skid/Christie Baby”, 51 passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 at home. She was born in Mecklenburg County on March 25, 1974 to her parents James Blair Skidmore (Jimmy) and Shirley Brotherton Skidmore. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves a void that can never be filled. She is preceded in death by her father James Blair Skidmore (Jimmy).
Christie was dedicated and loyal to her job, developing long-lasting relationships with her clients as well as her co-workers who became extended family. Christie made life long friendships that came from many avenues of life. She graduated from Northside Christian Academy in 1992. During her time there, she loved playing softball, volleyball, and basketball, and her hard work and competitive spirit led to her being named Athlete of the Year her senior year. Throughout her life, some of her hobbies included playing in various recreational softball and volleyball leagues, attending car shows, and spending time working on and admiring her beloved Volkswagen. In addition to these passions, she was proudly known as the “bargain shopping queen,” always finding the best deals and treasures. She loved spending her weekends with her toes in the sand, cruising the streets in her lime green golf cart, and soaking up every moment with family and friends. She never let her diagnosis of ovarian cancer define her life. Instead, she faced it the same way she faced everything — with positivity, resilience, and the same competitive spirit that had always defined her.
Left to cherish her memories include her mother, Shirley Skidmore Charlotte NC, brother Tim Skidmore (Angie) Gastonia NC, sister Sandi Skidmore (Roger) North Myrtle Beach SC, brother Randy Skidmore Charlotte NC. Nieces that she loved dearly Haley Moss (Alex) Cherryville NC, Mallory Skidmore Gastonia NC, great nephew Dayne Moss. Above all, her great nephew was the apple of her eye, and being “Mawmaw Christie” was one of the roles she cherished most. Her fur baby Tanner.
She was blessed with many friends whom she deeply cherished Stacie Brown, Athena Roughton, Dayton Oaks, Manny Costales, Sherri Read and many more.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 24th. Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Rd, Charlotte NC 28217 Interment will be private.
