Charles E. Duncan Jr, of Litchfield, Illinois died June 23, 2023, at the Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. He would have been 99 years old on June 26th.
Born on June 26, 1924, in Litchfield, Illinois he was a son of Charles E Duncan, Sr and Katherine Stella (Fincher) Duncan and a 1942 graduate of Litchfield High School. He attended the University of Illinois until February 1943 just before being drafted in the US Army. After military service ended in April 1946, he attended James Milliken University in Decatur graduating June 1950. During college he married Margaret Jane Dukas on June 3, 1948, in St Patrick's Catholic Church in Decatur, Illinois. She died June 28, 1997.
He was accepted into the FBI Academy in Washington D.C. for training but because of moving and having undergone surgery was unable to report. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor in East Peoria, Illinois, September 1950 to March 1952. He was next employed as Assistant Manager of the Shelby Service Company in Shelbyville, Illinois from May 1951 to November 1952 when he went to work as a Federal Investigator for the US Civil Service Commission. From March 1955 to May1957 he worked as a State Farm Insurance Agent during a Reduction in Force. He was hired back to the US Office of Personnel Management May 1957 and retired on July 3, 1983. During employment he had several duty stations Chicago, Edwardsville, and Springfield.
In March 1984 he and Margaret moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona. In September 1984 he began working as a contract investigator for the US Office of Personnel Management. In August 1989, they moved back to Litchfield where he continued to work as a contract investigator until December 1992.
He married Marjorie (Christine) Hantla in Las Vegas, Nevada May 29, 1998, in the St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church. She died January 29, 2016.
Surviving are his daughter Cynthia Bollinger and granddaughter Nicole Origliosso and husband Christopher all of Goreville, Illinois; two additional grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Katherine and husband Jeffrey Schneider and son in law Ray D Bollinger.
A private family service will be held for Charles E Duncan, Jr. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
