Lawrence E. Blumenstock, age 78, of Marion, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 12:20 p.m. in John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.

He was born on August 4, 1947 in Marion, IL, a son to Walter and Esther (Krumrey) Blumenstock.

Lawrence was raised in Marion and was a graduate of Marion High School.

He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his period of faithful service, he was honorably discharged.

Lawrence was united in marriage to Jo Carol Williams on August 4, 1970 in Elizabethtown, IL and together they have shared fifty-five years of marriage.

Lawrence spent his working years as a coal miner for Freeman Coal Company, working at the Freeman 4 mine.

Lawrence was a lifetime member of Arnold View Free Will Baptist Church and currently attended Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church. Other memberships include the U.M.W.A., Marion Elks Lodge #800, and the American Quarter Horse Association.

In his spare time, Lawrence enjoyed fishing, camping and working in his yard. He had a very loving and generous heart and would do anything he could for anyone. He was also handy and good at working on tractors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Blumenstock of Marion; son, Jaret Blumenstock of Marion; sister, Joyce Hall of West Frankfort, IL; brothers, Kenneth Blumenstock and his wife, Debora, of Marion and Gail Blumenstock and his wife, Darlene; several nieces and nephews; loved as a son, Dean Mausey; loved as grandsons, Cody Mausey and his wife, Telly, and Colt and Case Mausey; special neighbors, Joe and Barb Herman; and his favorite companion, his dog, Shadey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, James Earl Krumrey; and three brothers, Ernie Blumenstock, John Blumestock and Eugene Blumenstock.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

Per Lawrence's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held at this time.

For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be directed to "Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation" or "Shriner's Hospital for Children." Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
