Charles Welton English of Perry, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, just days before his 84th birthday. Charles was born on June 29, 1941, in Chester, Georgia, to the late James and Christine English (Hosford). Charles was a proud Mason and a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, playing pool, and spending time at the beach. However, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family, who were truly the joy of his life. Over the years, Charles made a lasting impact in his community. He was the former owner of Nu-Way in Fort Valley, Georgia, and also managed the M&T Drive-In and Plaza Theater. A man of deep faith, Charles was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville, where he found great fellowship and spiritual fulfillment. Charles was married to the love of his life, Ida Elizabeth "Liz" English, and together they built a life full of love, family, and faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Christine English, grandson, Michael Jacob Guy, brother, Millard English, nephew, Benjamin English, and niece Amy McCranie. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Liz English; his children: Tracy Johnson (Tom) of Thomaston, GA; Don Guy (Gina) of Warner Robins, GA; and Ryan English (Cara) of Perry, GA; his beloved grandchildren: Brittany Helms (Jerry), Caleb Johnson (Kaylee), Presley Pittman (Phillip), Dalton Guy, and Amelia English; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Batchelor of Cochran, GA; his brothers, Raymond English of Cochran, GA, and Donnie English (Jane) of Brunswick, GA; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss him. A service celebrating Charles's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Haynesville, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at First Baptist of Haynesville Cemetery. Pastor William Hurst and Rev. Tom Schuj will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital in honor of Charles's generous spirit. With honor and compassion, Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
