Charles passed away at home with his loved ones on October 5, 2025 at the age of 72 after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born June 10, 1953 in Santa Rosa, California to the late Charles William Farrell and Carol Joan Farrell. Charles graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1971 and shortly after he joined the US Navy. He was an active service member from 1972-1976. Charles was stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War, and received a National Defense Service Medal.
Charles moved to Colorado in 2002 to be closer to two of his daughters, Brittani and Averi, and lived in Littleton for 16 years. He proudly owned his own business, “CW Farrell Electronics” moving it from California City, to Placerville, CA, and finally in 2006 to Littleton, Colorado. He owned and operated that business until his illness no longer allowed him to work in 2018.
He lived a family oriented life in Colorado where he enjoyed taking his children on various exciting excursions like the Renaissance Festival, county fairs, the People’s Fair, and many more. He loved the holidays and celebrating his children and grandchildren’s birthdays. Making happy memories and spending time with his family was most important to him. Charles was a pianist and singer who enjoyed writing and playing his own music throughout his life. He joined the Catholic Church in 2023 and was a proud member until his passing. One of his final wishes was for his daughter Averi, and granddaughter Amelia to be baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church as well, and they are working hard to honor that wish. Father Dan Kostelc of the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cheyenne, Wyoming helped him receive his confirmation and was his best friend.
Charles is known for his tenacity, unique personality, stubbornness, generosity and unwavering sense of humor. He was a devoted father and grandfather and found great pride in seeing his children and grandchildren grow. He was his youngest daughter, Averi’s, best friend, confidant, protector, adviser, and biggest supporter. He stepped into the role of father to her child, Amelia, his granddaughter. Amelia asked him if he would be her daddy, and he of course was overjoyed to say “Yes!” He took that role in her life very seriously and was honored to be that for her.
He is survived by his younger siblings John Farrell (Suellen), Linda Heuer (Keith), Jeff Farrell (Laura), Greg Farrell (Larry Brillson). His children John Shunn, Kristine Farrell, Brittani Farrell, and Averi Farrell. His grandchildren Nolan, Owen, Grayson, Amy, Ashley, Jesus, Jozette, and Amelia! His great grandchild Claire. His nephews and niece Hans, Nicholas, and Marianne. And his great nieces and nephews Jaida, Lars, Ella, Madison, Colton, and Molly. He is preceded in death by his son Jason Farrell.
