Horan & McConaty Funeral Service & Cremation - South Metro/CentennialIt is with great sadness to announce the passing of Rudolph Walter Janusz, age 88, who passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 28th, 2025. A proud U.S Army veteran, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Rudy was the heart of his family and beloved husband of Susanne Pasternak Janusz, his wife of 55 years.
Rudy is lovingly remembered by his wife Susanne; his daughters Theresa Bailey (Scott), Angela Herceglic (Dennis), and Melissa Shafi (Daniel); Denise Janusz, Denis Janusz, and Gregory Janusz from his first marriage. He was also a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren: Maximillian, Alexander, Simon, Chloe and Sophia, Judi, Jesse, and Shawn, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 11, 1937, to Frank and Josephine Janusz, Rudy was the third of three sons. He is preceded by his brothers and sisters-in-law Eugene and Evelyn Janusz and Frank and Jean Janusz.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Printing (Class of 1955), Rudy began his career in New York City working in newspaper printing before serving proudly in the U.S Army. In 1961, he embarked on a long and rewarding career with United Airlines, beginning at JFK International Airport in New York. Rudy worked in In-Flight Services as Aircrew Scheduler. Over the course of 34 years, his work with United took him and his family to many new homes, including Seattle, Washington; Cleveland, Ohio; and finally, Denver, Colorado, where he retired in 1995. One of many of Rudy’s work accomplishments was in 1987 when he received the system wide award, Crew Scheduler of the Year.
Rudy’s greatest love was his wife, Susanne, and their children. Forever a devoted husband and caring father, he loved spending time with family and friends enjoying quality time together. Rudy found joy in life’s simple pleasures- Sunday pasta dinner, laughter around the table, a glass of beer and time spent with those he loved most.
A lifelong baseball fan, Rudy especially loved the New York Yankees, and he never turned down an opportunity for adventure or travel. His favorite destination was Hawaii, where he found peace and relaxation. Known for his quick wit and comedian-like charm, Rudy had a gift for bringing light to even the most difficult situations. Beneath his humor was a heart filled with kindness, empathy and deep love. To his family and friends, he was not only a source of laughter but also a constant presence of warmth, compassion, and strength. Rudy will be forever loved and profoundly missed.
Our family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the medical team at Bristol Hospice who helped care for him during his final days.
