Martin John Schmitzer Jr, age 55, died unexpectedly at Littleton Adventist Hospital on September 30th, 2025. He was born on February 5th, 1970 at a USAF Hospital in Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany. He was a 1988 graduate of Olmsted Falls High School. Martin went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati. While working as a Resident Advisor at UC, he met fellow RA Paula Marie Hoberg. They married in August of 1996. Martin worked at Lockheed Martin in Denver for 30 years at the time of his death.
Martin was a do it yourself kind of guy. If he could find a schematic for it, he could fix it. He also enjoyed working on the family cars. Golfing with his youngest daughter was one of his favorite things to do. He was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Parish. Left to cherish Martin’s memory is his wife of 29 years, Paula; daughters, Maeve and Madeline; mother, Sue Schmitzer; brother, Mark (Jen) Schmitzer; sister Christine (Joe) Huber; brother-in-law, Alan (Julie) Hoberg; several nieces and nephews which he adored; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin; and his in-laws, Paul and Gayle Hoberg.
Funeral and burial services will be held in Ohio. Donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado.
