Charles Ference Sr, 87 of Sharon, passed away on April 24, 2024 at 6:36am in Nugent's Convalescent Home of an extended illness.
He was born on March 6, 1937 to John and Alice Ference in Sharon, PA.
He graduated from Sharon High School. Chuck joined the U.S. Army on June 22, 1960 until June 12, 1962. On October 12, 1963, he married Patricia Cogley. Chuck retired August 1, 1992 from Sharon Steel Corps as a foreman in the blast furnace department after 37 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church until closing in 2010, then he joined St. Anthony Church in Sharon Chuck was a social member of the Croatian American Civic Club in Farrell, PA, and a bowler in Sharpsville, PA. Chuck loved golfing, Euchre, solitaire, hunting, and spending time with family.
Charles is survived by his daughter, MaryAlice (Jeffrey) Merchant of Sharon, PA; his son, Charles (Paula) Ference Jr. of Hermitage, PA, five grandchildren; Michael Porterfield and his Fiancee Dallas Kovach, Ethan, Connor, Trevor, and Spencer, Step grandchildren, Shane (Casie) Merchant, Steven (Ashley) Merchant and Katelynn (Brian) Anderson. Three great grandchildren; Kamilynn and Karson Porterfield and Eloise Merchant. A sister, Mary Rose Taylor of Hermitage and 3 brothers, John M. Ference Jr. of Hubbard, OH, Francis (Sharon) Ference of Hermitage, Joseph Ference of Hermitage and Phillip (Kathy) Ference of AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia (Cogley) Ference, his son, Anthony Ference and 2 brothers, Walter, and Louie Ference.

To Charlie and Mary Alice( and family), i send my deepest condolences. I remember the day your dad and mom moved in next door and we were "family" for over 50 years. How he loved his polka music!!
