Charles William Flynn

Flynn, Charles William, age 93, of Glen Rock, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born and raised in the Bronx, Charlie had lived in Glen Rock for more than 60 years. An altar boy and outstanding student in his youth, he excelled in academics, attending Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx and then being awarded a full scholarship to attend and graduate from Manhattan College. He then worked diligently for nearly forty years until his retirement as an electrical engineer for ITT Avionics in Nutley, NJ. Early in his years at ITT, Charlie was on assignment doing work at the Pentagon where he met his future wife, Mary, who he remained faithfully married to for 62 years until her passing. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. As a leading member and former President of the Glen Rock Activities Club, Charlie enjoyed the Classical Music Club, the Computer Club, and planning and coordinating many club events. He also belonged to the "Walking Club", meeting regularly with friends at Giannella's in town. Charlie and his wife Mary were dutiful volunteers for more than a decade with Community Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to the elderly in need and with Charlie also serving as their President and board member.
For 62 years, Charlie was the beloved husband of the late Mary (nee: Sheridan) Flynn (2023). Loving father of Claire Jones and her husband Russell, Thomas Flynn and his wife Elizabeth, Michael Flynn and his wife Heather and the late Margaret "Maggie" Flynn (2005). Dear grandfather of Katie Madden and her husband Corey, Molly Jones, Brian Jones, Nolan Flynn, Erika Flynn, Tommy Flynn, Charlotte Flynn and Andrew Flynn. Great-grandfather of Liam, Jack and Charlie Madden. Dearest brother of the late Owen Flynn and his surviving wife Margaret Flynn.
Funeral will depart at 9:30am on Monday, March 31, 2025, from the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne, for a 10:00am funeral mass at St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-5pm.
