Mr. Charles "Chuck" Randolph Gaines, 65, of Woodstock, GA passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 4, 2025, at Northside Cherokee Hospital. He is now with his Savior.
Chuck was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 1, 1960 and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina where he developed the values of faith, community, and kindness. Chuck earned a Bachelor's degree in Business from Western Carolina University.
He began his career in retail management with sporting goods stores in Philadelphia and Atlanta. He then joined CVS as a corporate employee with many titles and retired after 27 years in 2025.
Chuck was an active member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, where he found great joy and purpose in worship and fellowship. Over the years, he built a strong and supportive community grounded in faith, service, and love. Chuck will be remembered for his love of God's Word. He was a serious student of the Bible, and would often teach small groups on Sunday mornings in his church.
Chuck was preceeded in death by his father William E Gaines, mother Barbara M Gaines, and sister-in-law Janet Gaines. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Vanessa Gaines; his stepdaughter, Courtney Hernandez (David); and his precious granddaughter, Ella Rose Hernandez. He also leaves behind three loving brothers: Bill Gaines, Bobby Gaines and Dan Gaines (Cameron) along with nieces Danielle and Kelly; nephews Jon (Gentia) and Andy; his dear aunt Micki and mother-in-law Sylvia.
Chuck found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, a passionate gardener, and a quiet observer of nature-especially through his love of bird watching. Whether tending to his plants or spending time outdoors, he found peace and joy in the beauty of the world around him. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially the love of his life Vanessa and the twinkle in his eye Ella.
Chuck will be remembered for his generous heart, steady spirit, and the quiet strength with which he supported those around him. His legacy lives on in the family and friends who were blessed to have known and loved him.
A celebration of Chuck's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Woodstock in the auditorium in Building A on Saturday, August 9 where friends and family will gather to honor a life well-lived. Visitation will be held between 12 pm and 2pm with the funeral service at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton, GA with Poole Funeral Home of Woodstock directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Woodstock, GA. Livestream Link: https://boxcast.tv/view/chuck-gaines-funeral-hpuotoxnwsgoizjshdcr
