Charles Raymond Genga Sr., 86, of Church Road, VA, passed peacefully on October 14, 2025. Charles grew up in Marion, VA and graduated from Marion High School in 1957. He then served in the Navy and Army for 23 years and, later, attended and graduated from St. Leo's college.

Charles enjoyed playing golf, painting, spending time with his animals and grandkids, building model cars, cooking, playing guitar, singing, and watching Virginia Cavaliers football. He was an active member of Ocran United Methodist Church and remained steady in his Christian faith. He was also a very proud Vietnam veteran.

Charles is preceded in death by his children, Dawn Mischelle Magda and Charles Raymond Genga Jr.; parents, Luigi (Louis) Genga and Lacy Genga; and siblings, Louis Genga, Josephine (Teeny) Gregory, and Louise Goodrich. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Genga; stepdaughter, Nicole Smith; sister, Mary Ingram (James); devoted brother-in-law, Ronnie Wicks; grandchildren, Danielle Lindgren (Kyle) and Taylor Magda-Mathis (Emily); and great-grandchildren, Samuel Marable, Anna Sneade Marable, Levi Lindgren, and Georgia Lindgren.

To honor Charles' wishes, there will not be a formal service held, but we invite you to play a round of golf, create a piece of art, or listen to Johnny Cash in celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Charles' name at alz.org or 225 N Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.

Arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes. Condolences may be registered online at ealvinsmall.com.
