Charles Russell Grissinger

Charles R. Grissinger, 88, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Springfield, VA, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Shannondale of Maryville.
He was born March 28, 1936, in Mount Union, PA to the parents of Daniel Carl and Ora Lane Grissinger. He graduated from Penn State University with a BS degree in Accounting and shortly moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked as an accountant for the Federal Government for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of Christian faith
Charles is survived by nephew Eric Hyatt, wife Jennifer, and children, sister in law: Vera Whited Hyatt and friend James McCosh, brother in law Ralph Whited and wife Gail, many nieces and nephews, and friends in PA, VA, and TN. The family wants to extend a very special thanks to the Shannondale Chapel congregation and staff of the facility for their love and support during his six years as resident there.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Vivian Louella Whited Grissinger, a native of Sweetwater, TN. They made many trips back to this area to visit family and friends and always planned to retire here.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 14 from 1:00-2:00 at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater. The graveside service at Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park will follow at 2:15 with his nephew Rev. Keith Whited officiating.
