Charles Henry Harris, 79, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at his home.
Born on March 28, 1945, in Brooklyn, Arkansas, to Clyde Harris Sr. and Elizabeth Bennet Harris, Charles was a man who deeply valued faith, family, and hard work. On Feb. 15, 1964, he married the love of his life, Abbie Mae Harris, in Wilson, Arkansas, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories. Together, they raised a family rooted in love and togetherness.
Charles worked as a supervisor with Bibler Lumber Company but took the greatest pride in his role as a husband, father, "Papa," and great-grandfather. He was a member of Atkins First Assembly of God, where he found joy in his faith community. Charles was happiest when surrounded by his family, whether during fishing trips, hunting outings, gardening, yard sales, or road trips. He loved "junking" and always had a way of turning the simplest moments into treasured memories, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored their Papa.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 61 years, Abbie Harris of Russellville; his daughter, Patricia Curtis of Russellville; his son, Charles H. Harris Jr. (Karen) of Russellville; his grandchildren, Chris Foster, Hannah Foster, Elizabeth Kidd (Koyt), and Rebecca Harris; his great-grandchildren, Ryder Foster, McKenzie Harris, Chevy Kidd, and Jenny Matherne; his two sisters, Bertha Clowers and Belle Ricketts; and his beloved fur buddy, Archie.
A celebration of Charles's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Palmetto Cemetery, with Rev. Brian Ryals officiating. He will be laid to rest at Palmetto Cemetery in Russellville under the care of Humphrey Funeral Service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles's honor to Arkansas Hospice, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, AR 72801.
