With deep sorrow and profound love, the family of Charles Whealan Hebert announces his peaceful passing on November 10, 2025 at the age of 81. Born on October 24, 1944 in Houston TX, Charles lived a life marked by faith, family, and a spirit of adventure.
He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and a proud and active member of the Sacred Heart Italian Club, where he found joy in fellowship and community. Born and raised in
Houston, Texas, Charles was an active member of its vibrant community until the final year of his life, when he relocated to North Carolina to live with his eldest son's family. He began his education at All Saints Catholic School in the Heights and continued at St. Pius X High School, where he met the love of his life, Stephanie.
Charles was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several businesses throughout his life, including ventures in electrical services, general construction, and real estate development. His work ethic, vision, and leadership left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles was a man of many passions. He found peace and exhilaration in sailing, had a lifelong love for fast red cars, and took to the skies as a licensed pilot, embracing the freedom of flight. Charles had a deep love for dancing, especially square dancing, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He also had a distinctive palate, delighting in simple pleasures like chocolate milk, ice cream, crisp bacon, pizza with lots of anchovies, Chicory coffee, chocolate cream pie, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of Egg Nog season each year. Proud of his Cajun French heritage, Charles embraced its traditions wholeheartedly, participating in cultural festivities with great enthusiasm and joy.
Charles was a beloved father to Allen Hebert (Denae) and Joseph "Joey" Hebert (Denise). Allen and Denae's children treasured their Grandpa Charlie: Rachel, Ellen Lively (Jarrod), Victoria Valdez (Ben), Robert, Peter, Therese, Henry, James, and Joseph and great grandfather to Alexi & Emmett Valdez and Ranger and baby Lively expected in June 2026. Joey & Denise's children loved their Grandpa Charlie: Stephanie, Daniel, Amelia & Erin. His legacy of love, strength, and faith lives on in each of them.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents - Thomas Roy Hebert and Mary Aline (Earhart) Austin, his beloved spouse, Stephanie Ann Broussard Hebert and his older brother Thomas Roy Hebert, Jr.
Charles is survived by his beloved brother, Patrick Allan Hebert & wife Joyce and his devoted sister, Anne Holly (Hebert) Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith.
St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Jersey Village TX will host a visitation in the narthex on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 9:30am, celebration of life with a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am followed by a reception in the Kolbe hall. He will be laid to rest later that day at 3:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale - Section 54 in
Houston, TX. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Charles's life and legacy.
