Charles Hess Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville on Mar. 3, 2026.
Charles E. Hess, Jr. "Chuck", passed away Thursday, February 26, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and quiet generosity.

Chuck grew up in Lawrence Park and graduated from Iroquois High School. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. That decision reflected the courage, discipline, and deep sense of duty that defined his character throughout his life. He carried the values of service and loyalty with him long after his time in uniform.

Chuck had a deep love for the outdoors. He loved to go to the camp he helped his dad build. He found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and especially metal detecting and coin collecting. With the patience of someone who understood the value of small, hidden things, Chuck spent countless hours searching for treasures alongside family and friends. For him, metal detecting was about more than finding coins or relics - it was about the thrill of discovery, the stories behind each find, and the time shared with those he cared about. In his own way, he was also uncovering pieces of his childhood and giving them back to others.

Chuck will be remembered for his steady strength, his quiet determination, and his love for simple pleasures. He valued time with family and friends and created lasting memories through shared adventures and conversations outdoors.

He leaves behind family and friends who will miss him dearly and carry forward the lessons he taught through his example - to serve with honor, to treasure the small things, and to cherish time spent together.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Hess Sr. and Dorothy Willet; his sisters, Donna Rae and Rhonda Lee; and his beloved grandmother, Helen Miller.

He is survived by his sisters, Robin Westcott (David), Teri Peters (Steve) and Charlene Klan; his cousin, Kenny Dornhoefer and his family, as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

To honor Chuck's wishes there will be no services. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.
