Charles E. "Bud" Hillhouse

Charles "Bud" E. Hillhouse, aged 83, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2025, in Grove, OK. Born on April 6, 1942, Charles was known for his unique sense of humor, often playing the role of a tease or jokester. His stubborn yet loving nature endeared him to many, and despite his ornery streak, he was a dedicated hard worker. Charles proudly served in the Army, where he embraced the disciplined life of a soldier, honing skills that would later benefit him in his career in the oil and gas industry. His military training at the Oklahoma Military Academy laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. On August 19, 1966, Charles married Janet Simpson in Tulsa, OK. The couple spent 59 wonderful years together making many happy memories. Beyond his professional life, Charles was a passionate collector, with interests ranging from coins to records. He also remained active in sports, playing recreational volleyball and basketball well into his 50s and even participating in national tournaments. Never one to sit idle, Charles was currently employed at Grove Public School as a Transportation Aid for Special Ed students, an endeavor he embarked on to assist his daughter, Katrina, who is a supervisor of Transportation at GPS. Charles is survived by his loving spouse, Janet Hillhouse, and their three children: Charlie Hillhouse, Jr. of Grove, OK, Katrina Fransen of Grove, OK, and Matt Hillhouse of Tulsa, OK; sister, Dorothy Elias of Tulsa, OK. He was a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and expecting 2 more great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Charles life will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Church that Matters in Sand Springs, OK.
